Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
When you put a name or location into a search box, the query goes straight to the outside company that runs the tool. That company processes the entry and returns the response. We do not retain those search terms in a local query log.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We may keep an email or contact submission for the time needed to respond and preserve the related exchange. It is not shared outside our organization unless the law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive a limited set of technical details whenever a visitor loads a page:

No Criminal-Record Data on File
We neither maintain nor sell a database of personal criminal records. Genesee County Criminal History points readers toward Genesee County courts, the Sheriff's Office, Michigan State Police CJIC, and the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Data about a visit is not turned into a criminal-history file or consumer report concerning another person. This private resource is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search boxes shown on the site. Their privacy terms, not this policy, govern the information submitted through those tools. Each provider controls its own retention, processing, and disclosure practices. Read the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office, Michigan courts, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search providers. Once you follow a link away from this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before supplying personal information.
Some advertising providers may observe activity across multiple websites to select interest-based ads. That collection occurs through the provider's systems and rules.

How We Protect Your Data

Users Under 18
Genesee County Criminal History is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If a minor appears to have supplied such data, contact us so it can be removed promptly.
Your Data Rights
Michigan's Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., applies to qualifying public-body records. MCL 28.241a governs Michigan State Police dissemination of criminal-history information. Neither law makes this private Genesee County resource a public body or official record custodian. As applicable law permits, you may:
- Request a copy of personal information held about you
- Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
- Seek deletion of personal information where allowed
- Object to or opt out of certain processing where that right applies
